NETCOP:
Streamlining Global Network Operations
Defense
Information Systems Agency (DISA) Network
Common Operational Picture (NETCOP)
The Client’s Challenge
Our client is responsible for providing
integrated voice, data, and video networks
and communications services for U.S.,
Allied, and Coalition Forces around the
world. To provide “one look” visibility of
network status, the client required an
application that would automatically
collect, analyze, display, and distribute
network availability and quality statistics.
The NETCOP program is designed to provide
our client a web-enabled, correlated
situation awareness perspective of
transport, networks, applications, IA
sensors, and computer systems to help
streamline their complex and diverse global
network operations.
Meeting the Challenge
HAI’s NETCOP program effort will help our
client centralize the management of
disparate network operations security
centers around the world, ensuring
uniformity and optimal service quality
across DoD’s information infrastructure.
Specifically, the NETCOP software will
integrate data elements from enterprise
network management systems like HP Openview,
Tivoli, Cisco NetHealth, and Remedy.
It will use n-Tier, distributed
architectures with J2EE and Enterprise
JavaBeans in a web services environment.
The consolidation of network performance
information will help our client’s network
managers detect and identify the root causes
of network problems, correlate them with
trouble tickets, and identify affected
customers, services, and applications.
