The Department of Defense (DoD) Office of
Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization
(SADBU) approved a Mentor-Protégé Agreement
between the Science Applications
International Corporation (SAIC) and Houston
Associates, Inc. (HAI). The 3-year agreement
has been approved under the DoD Pilot
Mentor-Protégé Program and will be
administered through the Defense Information
Systems Agency (DISA).
This long-term business relationship is a
significant milestone that will enable HAI
to expand its role as a DoD and federal
agency supplier of IT and other services. The relationship with SAIC can also help HAI
achieve special technical and management
certifications through training support from
SAIC.
“This program will create opportunities and
advantages for both SAIC and HAI,” said John
Houston, HAI Chief Executive Officer. “Fulfilling the terms of the agreement will
require dedicated effort from both companies
to achieve valuable returns, but HAI and
SAIC are already well acquainted. SAIC is
currently serving as a subcontractor to HAI
providing telecommunications certification
office support, engineering, and
provisioning services for the Defense
Information Systems Network-Leading Edge
Services (DISN-LES) network.”
